High School Lover

If we’re talking ‘loved’ this week then really there’s nothing but Bieber lording it with the freestyle raps (kid’s a genius #justsaying). But, Oregon Bike Trail‘s ‘High School Lover’ is such a catchy, warm summer haze of a single that it’s definitely worthy of the accolade.

Wildfire

A little late now to jump on this track but it’s too good not to post. Taken from SBTRKT’s forthcoming debut album out June 24th on Young Turks (up there at the top of our ‘labels we wish we owned’ list), it features the remarkable Yukimi Nagano of  Little Dragon. Getting smashed in radio-land right now.

Other Side

There’s a lot of other acts we wanted to post here this week; The Weeknd, Grimes, Houses… but we keep coming back to this simplistic, flawlessly crafted track from Family Portrait. Keep a look out for the band’s Julian Lynch-produced, self-titled debut LP which out next month. Underwater Peoples are really delivering the goods this year.

Lady Luck

As difficult as it was to follow on from the greatness of Burial-co-produced single ‘Night Air’, post-dubstep mastermind Jamie Woon has delivered another outstanding track in ‘Lady Luck’. Combining soul with the popular minimal bass trend emerging from the UK right now, Woon’s vocals are ridiculous. Mirrorwriting out April 4 on Polydor Records.

Such A Sad Puppy Dog

This song is siiiiiiiiick. I was pretty obsessed with the cult Manchester band’s Heavy Pop track last year – this takes it to another level. Starts off in the typical Wu Lyf style then melts into a sweet hip-hop kind of flow around the 2.07 mark. I’ve heard good reports of these guys live so I urge you to check out more of their material.
